This new role would join our existing team of neurologists including another neurology headache specialist to provide care at our Innovation Tower, which opened in late 2022 on our Orlando campus just north of downtown.

The building houses a variety of services all in one convenient location and will be the new home of AdventHealth’s Neuroscience Institute and Brain Health Program. Grouping orthopedic and neuroscience specialists in a single building will allow better collaboration between the specialists yielding benefits to patients. Our Neuroscience Institute at AdventHealth Orlando consists of 120 dedicated neurology beds which includes 40 neuro-intensive care units, 8 dedicated neurosurgical OR suites with an intraoperative 3T MRI and 64 slice CT, FDG-PET, SPECT, and MEG lab. AdventHealth also has an advanced comprehensive stroke center providing endovascular procedures 24/7. Our neurosurgery program performed more craniotomy and spine surgery than any other hospitals in Florida. Our minimally invasive brain surgery program is one of the best in the state and draws patients nationally and internationally. We also have a fully developed DBS program.

AdventHealth is seeking a full-time, fellowship-trained Movement Disorders Neurologist to join an established and growing program. The physician will provide comprehensive adult movement disorders care and support multidisciplinary care, education, outreach, and program growth.

Position: Movement Disorders Neurologist
FTE: 1.0 FTE, full-time
Training: Movement Disorders fellowship required
Certification: Board certified or board eligible in Neurology

The Movement Disorders Program

The division includes three Movement Disorders Neurologists, an advanced practice provider, functional neurosurgeon, Movement Disorders nurse, DBS nurse navigator, social work, nutrition, and genetic counseling.

• Huntington’s Disease Center of Excellence with a monthly multidisciplinary clinic.
• Parkinson’s disease and tremor clinic with rehabilitation, social work, nutrition, and genetics support.
• Partnerships with Geriatric Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Behavioral Neurology, and counseling services.
• Advanced therapy evaluation and care, including DBS and functional neurosurgery.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, dystonia, Huntington’s disease, ataxia, chorea, tic disorders, atypical parkinsonism, gait disorders, functional movement disorders, and related conditions.
• Perform neurologic examinations, interpret diagnostic studies, manage medications, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Perform procedures within training and privileges, including botulinum toxin injections.
• Coordinate advanced therapies with neurosurgery and related specialty teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, case conferences, care coordination, and quality improvement.
• Educate neurology residents, medical students, and other learners, with potential future participation in a Movement Disorders fellowship.

The Neurology Department includes general and specialty neurologists, a Level 4 Epilepsy Center, and Neuromuscular Neurology, Headache, and Behavioral Neurology programs. It sponsors a Neurology Residency Program and offers opportunities to teach residents and help shape future Movement Disorders fellowship training.
